City extending all weather shelter to the end of June

Campbell River is extending their All Weather Shelter until the end of June.

The provincial government will be providing the city with $60,000 for the 16-bed shelter, $70,000 for outreach services, and will be supplying 10 rent supplements to the John Howard Society.

Campbell River Mayor Andy Adams says the announcement recognizes the requirements council presented to Minister Coleman when they explained the emergency shelter cannot just be an all weather shelter, but more so a 24/7 shelter.

Adams says they will continue to keep the dialogue open to fill the needs of the community.
