Campbell River is getting help from BC Transit to improve public transportation in the city.
BC Transit spokesperson Maureen Sheehan says the city will get 15 million dollars for a new operations and maintenance facility.
Sheehan says technical enhancements are also part of the plan which include four transit vehicles to have closed circuit TVs to enhance security for passengers and drivers.
She says improving public transit is important for cities like Campbell River because it increases mobility for those who don’t have access to a vehicle or can’t drive, especially aging demographics.
