Grizzlies on Cormorant Island being relocated

Two grizzly bears that made their way from the mainland to Cormorant Island have been successfully live-trapped

The two bears were first spotted on the weekend.

Gordon Hitchcock with the Conservation Service says it’s not uncommon for young adult male grizzlies to island-hop.

Alert Bay CAO Justin Beadle says they appreciate everyone’s cooperation as conservation officers worked to trap the bears.

The bears are being relocated back to the mainland.
