Canoe trip brings First Nations together

First Nations are set to be celebrated this summer.

The Tribal Journeys: Standing Together canoe trip will see travelers from Washington State, Vancouver Island and the lower mainland make their way to Campbell River.

K’omoks Canoe Coordinator Katherine Frank estimates that more than 2,000 canoers will arrive at the Comox stopover on August 2nd. “They’ll have many stops along the way, including Saanich, Duncan, Ladysmith, Nanaimo [and] Comox,” she says.

Frank adds that they have about 65+ canoes arriving in Comox. This year’s Tribal Journeys is hosted by the Wei Wai Kai and Wei Wai Kum First Nations.

Travelers are expected to arrive in Campbell River on August 5th. Further details can be found at: tribaljourneys2017.com.
