City Adds More Hardwear To The Trophy Case

The city of Campbell River has received an award for its planning.

The Planning Institute of British Columbia presented the city with a silver award of excellence for the Downtown Refresh intitative.

Acting Community Planning and Development Services Manager Maryanne Wade says the award is recognition of the city’s diligent planning work.

“It was very well received by the planning institute as a very progressive, forward thinking process that actually well-coordinated all aspects of development services.”

Wade notes this was a challenging plan to develop and a lot of work with several city departments was needed.

“We had to co-ordinate internally within the city, which would be utilities, roads, parks and then our planning group and building services.”
