A kilometer of outdated sewer pipes will be replaced with modern sewer mains including the associates tie-ins and sewer connections.
The project was made possible from the Canada’s Small Communities Fund, and when finished, it will help reduce the Village’s sewer system operating and maintenance costs.
Alert bay Councillor Dennis Buchanan says without the funding, it would have been very difficult for the municipality.
The updates will also reduce the handling of excess waste water volumes resulting from infiltration into the failing system.
