Big funding shot towards North Island infrastructure

Over $500,000 towards 5 infrastructure projects throughout the North Island.

North Island MP John Duncan made the announcement outside Courtenay City Hall this morning. He says the funding comes from the Canada 150 program.

$100,000 of the funding will go towards revamping the Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association clubhouse. Duncan says the club has a large membership and does a lot for the community.

Other areas receiving funding include Campbell River, Port McNeill, Sayward and Fanny Bay.

The Canada 150 program provides $150-million over 2 years to be delivered by regional development agencies across the country. It is a part of the Federal government’s activities honouring Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.
