B.C.’s tourism industry has gone up 38% in the past decade

A new study from British Columbia Statistics says the province’s tourism industry has gone up significantly in the past decade.

From 2004 to 2014, there has been a 38% increase in tourism revenue with over 127,000 people employed in the industry.

Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training Shirley Bond says the increase confirms the important role tourism plays in BC’s economy.

The study also showed the tourism industry paid $4.3 billion in wages and salaries, which was a 4.5% increase since 2013.
