Small earthquakes off Port Hardy

A few recent small earthquakes hundreds of kilometers off the shores of the North Island are a reminder we live in an earthquake zone.

Doctor Honn Kao, a seismologist from the geological survey of Canada, says these small quakes are pretty normal.

The latest was last week about 200 kilometers off the coast of Port Hardy.

Kao says they are expecting some bigger quakes to hit the region in the future and reminds everyone to get earthquake prepared.
