Union members at Chances Casino vote to give union a strike mandate

It does not look like the two sides are any closer to getting a deal done as local Chances Casino workers vote to give their new union a strike mandate.

The Campbell River workers had joined the United Steel workers union recently and were in contract negotiations with Playtime Community Gaming Centres but those have broken down.

Union representative Rick Wrangler says they held a strike vote Monday.

Wrangler says there are about 34 members at the casino.
Meanwhile Playtime says in a written statement they are ready, willing and able to meet with the union to continue bargaining in good faith toward an agreement which is fair and equitable for both the employees and the employer.
