Contract talks between the City of Campbell River and 160 unionized CUPE workers have broken down over wages, says the union.
CUPE 401 president Blaine Gurrie says they have issued strike notice and will be putting in an overtime ban.
Gurrie says they are looking for a 2% wage increase per year and the employer is coming in below that.
The City has now put in an application to the Labour Relations Board to have the employees vote on the City’s last offer.
City General Manager of Corporate Services Ron Bowles lays out their wage offer.
Bowels says the vote could happen on September 9th or 10th.
He adds that 72 hour strike notice has been served and any strike action could start on Friday.
