Reward offered for tips on culprits behind the huge power outage on the North Island

On August 26th at about noon unknown person(s) shot a number of insulators off of a BC Hydro transmission line near the Highway 19 junction to Port Alice. This resulted in a power outage effecting approximately 7,000 customers in the PortAlice/Port Hardy area and caused damage estimated at $40,000.00.   The power remained off for approximately 12 hours, which caused a large disruption to services.

BC Hydro is offering a reward of up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
