Campbell River city workers vote to reject last contract offer

Unionized city workers have voted to reject the City of Campbell River’s last contract offer.

A City press release says the offer included wage increases of two per cent in 2014, 1.5 per cent in 2015, 1.5 per cent in 2016 and two per cent in 2017 for a total of seven per cent over four years.

The CUPE workers previously filed strike notice and have put in a ban on over time. They could increase their strike action in the future.

A union press release says they want to get back to the bargaining table and work with a mediator.

Talks broke down over wages at the end of August and workers have been without a contract since December 2013.
