An open access broadband network is being proposed for Campbell River.
Island Coastal Economic Trust is putting $50,000 toward the project.
Economic Development Officer Rose Klukas says the goal is to make the fibre infrastructure available for service providers.
The goal is to have the first phase complete by August of next year.
