Weekend rescues for BC Ferries

B-C Ferries crews were kept busy this weekend with a pair of rescues.
Crews from the Baynes Sound Connector cable ferry launched a rescue boat to help pull a swimmer from the waters of Buckley Bay on Saturday afternoon.

B.C. Ferries received a call just after 12:00 p.m. to help a 14-year old boy swimming off shore.

The crew launched a rescue boat and pulled the boy from the water.

He was transported to shore to a waiting ambulance.
Later that day, crews from the Spirit of British Columbia rescued an overboard man Saturday afternoon.
During the 3 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay, a passenger reported seeing someone go over the side.
The crew launched a rescue boat and pulled the man from the water, who was then transported to a hospital.
