Tour de Rock rider injured after big crash
Quite the smash up in the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock campaign, with one rider being forced to pull out of the cycling tour, and sending Comox Valley rider Matthew Pidgeon to the hospital in Tofino with a mild concussion.
Tour spokesperson Arnold Lin says it was a chain reaction crash, that went down about 12 K’s into a 40 K ride from Ucluelt to Tofino.
Tour de Rock rider, 55 year old West Shore RCMP Staff Sergeant Steve Wright suffered a separated shoulder and torn ligaments and will now travel to the finish line in Victoria in the support vehicle. Campbell River and North Island Tour de Rock riders managed to avoid the chain reaction crash and came out unscathed.
