More confirmed cases of Enterovirus

Concerns are spreading about Enterovirus D68 but the North Island Medical Health officer says it really is just a respiratory virus that looks like and behaves like the common cold for most people.

Doctor Charmaine Enns says it is a bigger concern for kids with asthma.

Enns says this is a late summer early fall virus.

She says the best defense against enterovirus is hand washing, covering your nose and mouth when you cough and staying home when your sick.

Enns says it is also important that parents who have kids with asthma to keep the asthma under control.
