Some local salmon hatcheries are getting upgrades funded by the Feds

The Federal Government is giving a big boost to area salmon hatcheries.
North Island MP John Duncan.

Duncan also says over $20 million has also been committed to the Bella Coola hatchery, on the central coast, where the buildings are going to be consolidated and the incubation and rearing structures are going to get replaced.

Salmon enhancement programs on BC’s coast are now about 35 years old and the government is reinvesting.

Duncan says the federal government has also partnered with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to leverage salmon habitat enhancement.
