Major CR MVA shows importance of buckling up

A huge multi-vehicle smash up late Tuesday afternoon on the Old Island Highway South at Engles Road.

Campbell River RCMP say a Ford Taurus was at Engles Road making a left turn onto the Highway, when a white Ford pickup travelling south bound struck the Taurus.

RCMP Corporal Poppy Hallam says thankfully, all were wearing seat belts and only suffered minor injuries.

She says two small kids in the back of the Taurus in car seats were properly secured, which minimized injuries…and possibly saved lives.

The vehicles sustained major damage in that crash and the police investigation continues.
