REC-REATE Project Continues To Make Big Progress

The Strathcona Regional Districts REC-REATE project has taken another big step forward.

The feasibility study on Strathcona Gardens has been completed and will be presented to the Gardens Commission at the June 7th meeting.

Special Projects and Sustainability Manager Victoria Smith says the study tested the original concept developed out of a 2015 needs study and, along with some added pieces, put it to the test.

“It was important we took our time to do further work, which included seismic reviews by engineers, the architectural consultants reviewing the preferred concept to make sure we got the layout and programming space right.”

Despite having the presentation of the study being less than 24 hours away, Smith states she’s feeling good about it.

“We’ve hired primary consultants and a number of engineers and programming business case analysts working underneath them working to contribute to this report.”

“All in all, I feel very positive about the report we’ve managed to generate.”
