Carter Work Project Celebrated In Campbell River

Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is celebrating the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

Canada was selected as the location for the project this year with the goal of building 150 homes across the country for the 150th birthday.

That includes builds here in Campbell River.

Executive Director Pat McKenna notes there’s still lots of work to do at the build site on Hilchey, which will have 11 units when complete.

He says one of the keys to these projects is the help from volunteers.

“It’s just such a great way to give back. It’s just a great way to give back your time and to help build community.”

“We’ll teach you what you need to know you don’t need any skills or knowledge. When you get on the job site, it’s just a lot of fun.”
