Survey shows slight decline in homeless population

They are fewer homeless people in Campbell River compared to two years ago.  That’s according to results from a city survey given to council at Monday’s meeting.

This year’s homeless count ran from September 1st to 3rd. There were 47 people sleeping outdoors and 32 living in a shelter, compared to 52 and 33 respectively in 2015. The results don’t include people who chose to not participate.

The survey helps the city figure out how to allocate money and services to the issue. Council is planning to budget enough money to do a homeless count every two years.
