A suicidal man is facing charges after fleeing from police.
The Campbell River RCMP says the incident happened this morning. The man had taken fentanyl in an attempt to kill himself and when police found him he took off in his vehicle.
Officers were able to get in touch with him and it became clear he wanted to drive himself to the hospital. They escorted the man there with the help of a helicopter which the RCMP says helped keep people out of danger.
When he got to the hospital the man was treated and then arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
