North Island earthquake reminds us we live in a quake zone

Another wake up call for people to be prepared, says the Strathcona Regional District Protective Services Coordinator, Howie Siemens, following the 6.6 magnitude earth quake off the west coast of the Island.

Many people are left wondering what they are supposed to do in an earthquake.

Siemens the local emergency coordinator advises people to avoid trying to walk around and instead drop cover and hold on.

The 6.6 magnitude quake happened 94 kilometers south of Port Hardy and two smaller ones followed farther away in the ocean.

Port Hardy Mayor Bev Parnham says they definitely felt this one up Island.

There are no reports of damage or any injury.
