BC Hydro Praying For Rain As Problem Grows In The Campbell River System

According to BC Hydro, things could stand to improve in the Campbell River system.

Hydro spokesperson Stephen Watson says September was been a record setting month for the system, and it’s not in a good way.

“Monthly inflows we’ve had in September were the lowest we’ve ever had for the Campbell River system.”

Watson notes since the calendar has flipped to October, things haven’t improved.

“On Monday, we only had three cubic metres coming into the system and we’re releasing 100 cubic metres per second downstream for spawning salmon.”

Watson states earlier in the year, inflows weren’t a problem, as the rain and snow collected from the past winter more than sustained the system throughout the summer.
