Forestry worker killed near Tahsis

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a
man who died while working on a heli-logging operation near Tahsis on
Dec. 7, 2014.

He was David Thompson Kennedy, aged 47, of Coldstream, a community in
the north Okanagan.

Mr. Kennedy was employed as a tree-faller when he sustained critical
injuries late in the morning of Dec. 7. He was transported to
Campbell River and District Hospital by helicopter and ambulance, but
could not be resuscitated.

The BC Coroners Service, RCMP and WorkSafe BC are continuing to
investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Kennedy has been notified of his death. On behalf
of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect
their privacy at this difficult time.
