City launches municipal internet service for downtown

CRadvantage is live.

That’s the City of Campbell River’s new, downtown internet service. The first phase was launched last night. The city says CRadvantage gives both businesses and the public access to inexpensive, high-speed internet.

It’s the first municipal broadband service on Vancouver Island and is comparable in speed to similar services in places like Vancouver, San Francisco and New York City.

Campbell River has been working since 2009 to get digital industries to the city and this is one part of that effort. You can find more information about CRadvantage at this website.
