BC Transit to offer free service on New Year’s Eve

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.- The City of Campbell River and BC Transit want you to get home safe this holiday season.

Free evening transit service is being offered on most routes in Campbell River this New Year’s Eve.

“What we wanted to do is provide people with a safe option to get home from their New Year’s Eve festivities,” said BC Transit Communications Manager Jonathon Dyck.

“The free New Year’s Eve service will apply from 6:35 p.m. to 2:45 a.m. to help people in getting home safely.”

Dyck noted that this free service has run before in Campbell River, and applies to a number of routes.

These include Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7.

Dyck said there are some other holiday schedule changes users should also be aware of. Sunday service will run as normal on December 24th, and there will be no transit service December 25th and 26th.

Regular service will resume from December 27th to December 30th.

There will be no service on January 1st, with regular service picking back up again on January 2nd.

A full schedule can be found through BC Transit’s website.
