Preparation key in emergency situations

“Am I ready for an emergency?”

That’s the question you may be asking yourself after yesterday’s tsunami warning.

Dave Carmichael with the Strathcona Regional District says it’s unlikely a tsunami would ever hit Campbell River, but there are other things to worry about:

There’s also the risk of an earthquake as well as smaller emergencies that can spring up like a house fire. Carmichael says the first step is a three-day emergency kit:

Your kit should include things like clothes, non-perishable food, water and a wind up flashlight and radio. That way you’re prepared for something like the power going out for an extended period of time or a lack of services.

You can also sign up for emergency notifications at the Strathcona Regional District’s website.
