TV pilot in $50,000 competition has Campbell River ties

A former Campbell River resident, city councillor, and radio broadcaster is looking to make a TV series.

Ryan Mennie’s Western Steele is part the Telus Storyhive competition. People can vote on which projects they like best with a winner from British Columbia and a winner from Alberta each getting $50,000.

Western Steele is based on the life of Kootenai Brown, a Canadian frontiersman who was also, among many other things, a soldier, a trader, and a prospector. Mennie, wrote, directed, and stars in the production.

People can vote for StoryHive projects at the competition’s website until Friday.  You can find Mennie’s page and the link to vote for Western Steele here.
