No one hurt in South Birch house fire

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-No one was injured in a fire today in Campbell River. Deputy Chief Thomas Doherty says the blaze broke out in a home on South Birch just after noon.

When fire crews arrived they found heavy black smoke coming out of the second floor. They were able to knock the fire down.

Although no one was home at the time they did find a pet dog and used their pet oxygen equipment on it. The fire has displaced a family of six.

Investigators are looking into the cause, but it’s not believed to be suspicious and there’s no estimate yet on how much damage was done.
