Disability Alliance BC is hosting emergency preparedness presentation

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-Imagine there’s an emergency situation. Now imagine how much harder that situation would be if you’re a person with a disability.

With that in mind Disability Alliance BC is putting on a presentation in Campbell River about emergency preparedness.

Karen Martin, the alliance’s emergency program coordinator, says hearing, vision, mobility and other issues can all cause problems for a person in the event of an emergency.  There are also some issues you may not even think of:

She says people who go to the presentation will learn about something called the “Functional Needs Framework:”

The presentation is happening on April 16th at the Strathcona Regional District Office.

It is free but you do have to register to take part, which you can do by getting in touch with Shaun Koopman at the Strathcona Regional District by calling 250-830-6702 or emailing [email protected].
