CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-Four We Wai Kum First Nation band members have accepted their nominations for Chief Councillor. They’re George Quocksister Jr., Christopher Roberts, Frances Roberts, and Dan Smith.
The band is electing a new chief after Robert Pollard stepped down in January. Pollard, who was in his fifth term as Chief Councillor, had been on leave for more than six months prior to stepping down due to health reasons.
Whichever candidate wins the by-election will serve the rest of Pollard’s term, which runs until next January. It’s happening on April 20th at the Thunderbird Hall.
