City approves 27-unit affordable housing apartment

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-Some affordable housing is coming to Campbell River. City council has approved a 27-unit apartment building at 531 9th Avenue.

The application came in from the Campbell River Head Injury Society. The building would be four storeys with 10 units reserved for head injury clients.

The approval includes a few variances, including side and front yard setbacks. Off-street parking would also be reduced to accommodate the parking needs of residents.

Council will be paying for the projected $68,000 development costs. The 2018-2027 Financial Plan will be amended with the Council Contingency fund increased by $75,000 from the Gaming Reserve.
