HERIOT BAY, B.C.-There’s going be an evacuation drill on Quadra Island in the coming weeks. It’s being put together by the Quadra Emergency Program, the Strathcona Regional District, and BC Ferries.
The drill is a simulation of what would happen if there was a wildfire on the island. Jeff Ballingal, liaison with the Quadra Emergency Program, says it’s a good opportunity to try a couple of different things:
About 35 people from the Schooner Road neighbourhood will be taking part. Ballingal says they were chosen for a few reasons:
