A new idea to boost local tourism

The Campbell River Economic Development Corporation (Rivercorp) is pleased to announce the formation of its Tourism Leadership Committee. In the latter part of 2013, Rivercorp convened several meetings with regional tourism stakeholders and operators to seek input and feedback on the future of tourism in the region.

One result of these meetings was the decision to form the Tourism Leadership Committee. The Committee will actively communicate with regional tourism industry stakeholders and operators, and provide guidance and input into market planning for Rivercorp’s external marketing arm, Tourism Campbell River and Region.

“Tourism Campbell River and Region is a regional tourism destination marketing organization with stakeholders from Cortes Island to Kyuquot. The Tourism Leadership Committee gives Tourism Campbell River and Region an active channel for peer-to-peer communication with tourism operators and stakeholders across the region,” says Vic Goodman, CEO, of Rivercorp.

Committee members represent seven primary tourism sectors, specifically: Attraction/Events; Large Accommodations (>30 rooms); Small Accommodations (<30 room, B&Bs, campgrounds); Retail; Transportation; Adventure/Recreation; and Food and Beverage.

The inaugural meeting of the Tourism Leadership Committee was held at the Enterprise Centre on March 28, 2014.
