Campbell River remodelling advisory committees to better meet community needs

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- Campbell River city council is restructuring it’s current advisory committees to focus their efforts more specifically.

The Advisory Planning and Environment Commission (APEC), the Community Services, Recreation and Culture Commission (CSRCC), the Public Safety Sub-Committee and the Public Art Sub-Committee will all be concluding their terms on June 1st to make way for three new volunteer commissions.

“Over the past year council has taken a really close look at it’s existing commissions and committees and we really wanted to focus on streamlining those,” said Deborah Sargent, Campbell River’s city manager.

“We want to really focus all of the work from our volunteers more precisely on council strategic priorities.”

The Community Planning Committee, the Environmental Advisory Committee and the Healthy Community and Public Safety Committee will be looking for volunteers beginning in May.

According to Sargent, the committees will be up and running in September, 2018.
