Council takes issue with mail delivery changes

Campbell River City Council has taken issue with the changes coming to the way Canada Post delivers mail.

Councilor Larry Samson put forward a motion to ask the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to request that the Federal Government consults with the public before Canada Post makes the changes.

He says he wants to see municipalities have a chance to address the changes.

Canada Post announced back in 2014 that door to door service would be phased out in favor of community postal boxes across the country.

Mayor Andy Adams did add that council had been consulted back in 2014 when the changes were initially announced.

Canada Post is planning to bring in community mail boxes and end all home delivery in Campbell River in the fall.
