Troubles for salmon in two Campbell River creeks

One creek is so contaminated the Willow Creek Watershed Society has halted their salmon enhancement work there.

Chuck DeSorcy from the society says there has been a lot of salmon enhancement work done on Casey Creek in the past.

At a recent city council meeting DeSorcy and fellow creek stewards and restoration volunteers talked about many of the different creeks in Campbell River.

The issue of city pipes in Willow Creek preventing salmon from getting to their spawning grounds was raised.

Deputy city manager Ron Neufeld says city staff are on it.

Neufeld says one of the three pipes is owned by Telus and they are going to be working with the company.
