VI Fitness abruptly closes due to bankruptcy

Sign on the window of VI Fitness

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- Members and staff of VI Fitness in Campbell River received an email at midnight last night notifying them of the “immediate” closure of all locations.

A sign posted on the window of the building from The Bowra Group, a licensed insolvency trustee of VI Fitness, stated that the bankruptcy of the company automatically terminates all employees.

The sign went on to say they would be sending information to employees regarding unpaid wages, severance and vacation pay.

A manager at VI fitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said the closure came as a surprise.

“All I can say is that we are devastated as we did not see this coming, we will miss our members dearly and I hope they are able to continue on their fitness path with the other gyms in town here.”

The posted sign included a contact number for The Bowra Group, however at the time of this publication, no one has responded.

In a facebook post, a screenshot of an email from a representative of Bowra said they were not sure if members would be refunded.

2day fm will keep you informed as the story progresses.
