Animal abuse prevention day

The issue of animal abuse is one locals are all too familiar with, take the recent case of two abandoned cats.

SPCA general manager of community relations, Lorie Chortyk, says April 23 is animal abuse prevention, and the provincial government has put out a proclamation to that effect.

She says on the SPCA website there are tips for people looking to take action.

Chortyk adds they want people to call in and not be a bystander to abuse, the SPCA runs a 24 hour hotline at 1-855-622-7722 where people can call in their tips.
