Success for Carihi’s senior girls soccer team

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – It’s been a monumental year for sports teams at Carihi Secondary in Campbell River.

The senior girls soccer team has qualified for the AA provincial soccer championship. The squad will travel to Kamloops on May 30 to take part in the 16-team tournament.

Coach John Jepson told the MyCampbellRiverNow.com newsroom that this is the third consecutive trip to the provincials for the girls.

That feat had previously only been achieved in 1996, 1997 and 1998. It will be the team’s twelfth appearance at the provincials.

Jepson noted that the senior boys soccer team finished in second in their Island championship this season.

“The boys have also returned from an exciting soccer trip to England over Spring Break,” he said.

“Indeed it has been a banner year for the sports program at Carihi.”

The senior girls volleyball and senior boys basketball teams each made their respective provincial championships, along with the senior boys and girls cross-country teams.
