Campbell River’s NIC campus expands international student programs

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River campus of North Island College is set to see a boost in numbers for international students this fall.

A release from the college states that the school will welcome around 75 students from abroad. NIC will offer a wide range of first and second-year business and university transfer courses for local and international students.

“To have program and course expansion happening in tandem with NIC’s $17.6 million Campbell River campus renovation and expansion project is revitalizing,” said NIC President John Bowman, in the release.

“It allows us to partner with community and support the City of Campbell River in diversifying its economy. We look forward to ongoing, collaborative relationships with the Immigrant Welcome Centre, Campbell River residents as well as the business and community as part of our internationalization plans.”

In addition, NIC plans to increase its advising services, counselling, front desk, library, administration, food services and homestay/peer-stay programs in Campbell River to “support student success.”

Residents who are interested in hosting an international student can contact the school’s accommodations officer at (250) 334-5000 ext. 4047 or email [email protected].
