Storm sign speedy forward

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River Storm have added a new forward to its roster.

The VIJHL team has signed White Rock, B.C.’s Josh Pederson. The 2000-born skater spent the last two seasons with the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget Hockey League (BCMML).

Over those two seasons, he racked up 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points in 57 games. He also chipped in two assists in three playoff games last season.

Pederson earned some playing time in the BCHL with the Coquitlam Express.

In a release from the team, Pederson said that signing with the team means, “I get to play with an organization that has a winning tradition, excellent program, good coaching staff and a town that really loves their hockey.”

He’s hoping to use his experience with the Storm as a spring board to the BCHL.

Pederson will attend the Nanaimo Clippers BCHL Main Camp this summer.

The Storm will be hosting a street hockey game on Sunday, July 1 to celebrate Canada Day with the community. The team will be off Shoppers Row on 11th Avenue, next to the Community Hall between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
