GoByBike Weeks kick off on October 15th

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The City of Campbell River is encouraging residents to participate in this fall’s GoByBike Weeks.

Register online to participate and get a chance to win a trip to Italy. Bike to Work Week is a week-long spring initiative but Campbell River received a grant to run a longer fall version of the program. GoByBike Weeks will run for two weeks.

Kara Shirley, the recreation programmer for the city, said people have a good chance of winning.

“Compared to the spring, we don’t expect to have the same turnout just because this is a brand new event and there’s only 6 communities on Vancouver Island who are doing the fall Bike to Work Week, so you do have a pretty good chance of winning that trip to Italy,” Shirley said.

As with the spring Bike to Work Week, there will be “celebration stations,” where bikers can go to for breakfast and various prizes. According to Shirley, the celebration stations will be set up from 7AM to 9AM, and participants can pick up bike lights, bike gloves, toques, and even fender packages.

For a full list of celebration stations and prizes, visit the Campbell River Bike to Work Week Facebook page.

To register, go to www.biketowork.ca.
