First advance poll in Campbell River well attended

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Hundreds of voters turned out to cast their ballots in the first of two advanced polls in Campbell River.

General voting day is this Saturday, October 20th.

For those who want to vote early, or cannot make it to the polls Saturday, a second advance polling opportunity is available on Wednesday, October 17th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the local Community Centre.

“Advance polls are open to all City of Campbell River electors, not just for extenuating circumstances,” said Elle Brovold, Campbell River’s city clerk and chief election officer.

“Voting during advance polls can take as little as five minutes, and polls are conveniently located downtown so that electors can pop in to vote at any point throughout the day.”

Votes from both advance polls will be calculated along with the general voting day ballots on Saturday. Six councillors will be chosen from a pool of nine.

The selected councillors will serve a four-year term starting in early November.

Andy Adams will stay on as Campbell River’s mayor by acclamation.

A kids-vote was also in use during the advanced polling period, and will continue to be available throughout the voting period.

Mail-in ballots are available for people who can’t attend the polls. More details can be found at campbellriver.ca/election.
