Stolen firearms bust in Port McNeil

After an investigation Port McNeil RCMP has arrested an 18-year-old man for possessing stolen firearms.

Jamie THOMSEN, of Sointula (on Malcolm Island) has been charged with: 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property, 1 count of Break and Enter to Steal Firearm, and 1 count of Theft of Firearm.

Information from the community was of great assistance to police in this investigation, says Sergeant Craig Blanchard, Port McNeil detachment commander. “We’re very pleased that stolen firearms have been taken off our streets, and these can present a significant danger to public safety.”

The investigation into recent commercial Break and Enters remains ongoing. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Port McNeil RCMP.

THOMSEN currently remains in custody, and his next scheduled court appearance is Feb. 24, 2015.
