Wind warning in effect for eastern Vancouver Island

VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for our region.

The advisory was issued shortly after midnight and is in place from Courtenay to Campbell River, and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

The agency said an approaching Pacific frontal system is bringing strong winds to the areas adjacent to northern portions of the Strait of Georgia.

Southeast winds of 70 kilometres per hour are expected throughout the morning, and will ease this afternoon as the system moves eastward.
