CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society (CRNITS) are thankful for a donation of warm clothing.
Three Southgate Middle School students dropped off a box of hats and toques and a bag of warm socks on Thursday morning.
Jen Ball, a receptionist at CRNITS, said the items were from a drive from the school.
“It was actually a surprise for us! We weren’t really aware they were coming. We received a call saying they had items they wanted to bring by. We were overjoyed to accept them.”
Ball said the items will be available for homeless and at-risk women. CRNITS has community showers, where those who need to shower can come in and use the premises from 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
“We’ll distribute them as needed to women who may need a warm hat or a pair of socks.”
Ball added that the Southgate students were also dropping off donations to other organizations with the community, including the Campbell River Women’s Resource Centre.
