Late photographer’s work to be displayed at the Museum at Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Godfrey Baldwin documented Campbell River through his photography.

And now, the Museum at Campbell River will be exhibiting his work in January.

The late photographer opened his studio in 1948 in the Campbellton neighbourhood with his wife May. They worked for the Courier Islander Newspaper: Godfrey as a photographer and May as a writer.

Godfrey was a prolific photographer. A significant percentage of the archival photos in the Museum at Campbell River were taken by him.

Godfrey suffered a heart attack while he was taking aerial photographs of Quadra Island and Menzies Bay in 1964.

Godfrey Baldwin’s work that will be exhibited at the museum ranges from the late ‘40s all the way to the early ‘60s.

The photographs serve as a record during a period of immense change and development for Campbell River.

The exhibit will run from January 12th to February 17th at the Museum at Campbell River.
